2004
was a special year for Dungannon Motor Club, it marked 50 years of motor
sport, the club was formed on 25th March 1954, after the closure of
Dungannon motorcycle club, since then the club has been foremost in the
promotion of motor sport in the area, and indeed contributing greatly to
the rise of the interest of motor sport in Ireland. Throughout the
years there have been many great names associated with the club many of
which begun their rallying careers at DMC, and to this day the club prides
itself on working to encourage and assist new competitors to the sport
As
way of Celebration of the Club's 50 Years this years
Dinner and prize giving was a special celebration, with quite a few past members, friends and competitors
in attendance to take a trip down memory lane and relive some of the great
experiences they had at the clu
During
the history of the Club it has organised some excellent events including
Autocross, Autotests, Alumac Stages Rally, Road Rallies, Navigation
Rallies which are better known as the Snowdrop, Springfling and Moonraker
rallies
Ronnie
Trouton MBE, gave an enlightening account of his memories of the Club,
Ronnie who is now president of the ANICC, was involved with the Club from
its early years and gave the Club tremendous service serving as secretary
for many years.
Also
in attendance were Nicky Moffitt Secretary of the ANICC whose wife
presented the awards on the night, also several members who had been
involved with the Club from its early years including , Jim Pickering,
Bryce Sands, Colin Boyd along with numerous past officers, members,
sponsors, competitors and friends.
