1964 Dun Laoghaire Car Trial

LESLIE VARD WINS IN GREAT STYLE

Leslie Vard won the Dun Laoghaire car trial on Saturday when he topped a field of 73 to win the Dun Laoghaire Borough Tourist Board Trophy with less than three marks to spare.

Leslie Vard drove a faultless rally, and covered the 14 driving tests with a total loss of 490.8 marks, just less than three seconds ahead of this year’s Circuit of Ireland winner, Ronnie McCartney, in a similar car, while another driver from the North, Robert Woodside, in a Volkswagen, was a close third.
