Fantastic DMC Motorsport Quiz

On the 10th of January 2025, Dungannon Motor Club held a Motorsport Quiz Night at the “Bottle of Benburb” Country Pub in Benburb. 10 teams turned out to test their knowledge and memory on subjects like Grand Prix History, F1 Team Principals, Irish National and International Rallying, picture rounds and a video round.

Visiting club teams were expected to pose a major threat to the local experts, with both Donegal Motor Club (Kindrum Flyers) and Omagh Motor Club (Bushwhacker Babes) living up to expectations and taking the top two places in the end.

Omagh Motor Club were represented by Gordon Noble, Gary Milligan and Robbie McGurk, and they proved unbeatable on the night. Representing Donegal were Rory Kennedy, Kevin Glendenning, and Aidan Caddye.

Ten rounds of questions were set by Club members: Hayes Robinson, Keith Hall, Derek Smyth and Fergus McAnallen. Three rounds were picture rounds and there was one video observation round which proved to be a lot of fun. For those of you who were not able to be at the quiz, there are a couple of the rounds at the end of this report for you to have a go at. A link to the answers can be found at the very end, but try the questions before looking the answers up.

During the quiz, the questions for each round were read out by Quizmaster Keith Hall, and after a bit of lively banter, the answer sheets were collected and scored by Derek Smyth. The scores were then projected on to the many TV screens in the lounge, keeping everybody informed about how they were doing.

An interval took place after round 4, and sheets of pictures were handed out for teams to ponder over as they enjoyed a fabulous supper, generously provided by McAnallen’s Spar, Benburb. Raffle tickets were also sold to raise funds for the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, and along with the entry fee for each team, an amazing £1000.00 was donated to the Charity on 5th February.

RallyRetro provided a range of prizes for the raffle and the RallyRetro beanie hats were needed for sure as the weather outside was very Wintery that evening.

Below are the scores. A perfect score would have been 112. A strange number, but each round had 10 questions with a mark each, except the video round had 2 questions per video clip, and one other round had two questions where two answers each were required.
