The spectators lining Galway’s Eyre Square on Sunday afternoon weren’t surprised when Billy Coleman’s Escort drove on to the ramp at the end of the Henley Forklift Galway International Rally.
Some 40 odd drivers, complete with navigators, plus a good number of spectators arrived at Ballyaughlis near Lisburn at the rather early hour of 11 a.m. on Friday, December 26, to do battle in the UAC’s annual Boxing Day Trial.

Winners at the Erne Safari Navigation Rally were Peter Jones and Lenny Weir in their Chrysler Imp who took a three minute victory from the lightweight BMW of John McAlorum and Paul Phelan.
The Drumlin navigation attracted an entry of 36 starters as it was also a counting round of both the National and the Squealing Pig Border Navigation Championships.
THE Highlands Special Stage Car Rally began on Sunday, 23rd November 1975, from the Ballyraine Hotel, Letterkenny.
