Some 40 odd drivers, complete with navigators, plus a good number of spectators arrived at Ballyaughlis near Lisburn at the rather early hour of 11 a.m. on Friday, December 26, to do battle in the UAC’s annual Boxing Day Trial.

Winners at the Erne Safari Navigation Rally were Peter Jones and Lenny Weir in their Chrysler Imp who took a three minute victory from the lightweight BMW of John McAlorum and Paul Phelan.
The Drumlin navigation attracted an entry of 36 starters as it was also a counting round of both the National and the Squealing Pig Border Navigation Championships.
THE Highlands Special Stage Car Rally began on Sunday, 23rd November 1975, from the Ballyraine Hotel, Letterkenny.
The 1975 “Hills of Donegal Rally” was a great success, with 45 cars entered for the twelve Special Stage Rally, which ran all through Friday night after a 10.30 p.m. start from The Ballyraine Hotel, Letterkenny.
This has been the busiest month ever according to Des Bradley.
The venue chosen was the immense car park and environs of the Bass, Mitchell & Butler’s Birmingham Brewery.
